About the Mountain View-Los Altos Adult School

The MVLA Adult School is an accredited school that is part of the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District. It has been accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) since 1961 and serves students from San Francisco to Gilroy and Half Moon Bay to Walnut Creek. Nearly 8,000 adults receive quality instruction and services each year.

Adult Education Center

The Adult School's main campus is located at 333 Moffett Blvd. in Mountain View between Middlefield and Central Expressway. Students receive instruction and services at over 20 satellite sites in Mountain View and Los Altos. Offerings include these programs and classes:

  • Adults with Disabilities
  • Career Technology Education, job preparation and training
  • English as a Second Language and Citizenship
  • Enrichment community classes and Older Adults' classes
  • Health and Safety classes such as Adult CPR and First Aid
  • High School Diploma and GED preparation and testing
  • Motorcycle Safety Training
  • Parent Education
  • Young Teen Parents Program (YPP)

In addition, we offer the following services through grants and outside funding:

  • An on site Career Center at our main campus staffed with a Career Specialist
  • Computer literacy and related classes for adults of all ages
  • English at Home and GED at Home distance learning options
  • Even Start Family Literacy grant for high need, low income families
  • On site childcare for students learning English, taking classes towards a high school diploma, or preparing for a GED certificate
  • Limited donations and scholarships for adult students who qualify
